meh...i like the pic, but i feel it could be better....maybe i like it more for what it stands for, more than the pic.


-WARNING! WARNING! LONG UNNECESARY RANT ABOUT TOONS AHEAD-

Today, cartoon network (MX) was airing a 4 hours marathon of courage the cowarldy dog, and i was once again reminded of how utterly awesome, bizarre and artsy the series is and decided to do fanart of my favorite episode of the series ever...even tho Courage himself is not present on the pic.

These are Bunny and Kitty, from the Episode "the mask", the only courage episode (to my knowledge) which ran for the whole time slot (about 22 minutes, twice as much a regular episode).

This episode goes beyond in many aspects(just like the series in general) specially for a cartoon supposedly aimed at children, it was surprising to see it take serious themes such as death threats, girlfriend abusing and that whole "i use this mask because i can't face reality" thing, even in all it's cartoony glory, it was pretty amazing, also the episode features many touching moments (such as the scene pictured here and that "nobody is perfect" scene with Eustace and Muriel), hell they even gave courage the most brutal beating in the series within the first ten second of the episode!

this made me realize how well done the series was, with very well built characters, even outside of the main 3, for example, Bunny and Kitty had ridiculous ammounts of backstory and depth despite the fact that they only appear once in the series (and the same goes for other characters such as the snowman or Eustace's mom), plus even if the show had somewhat of a formula, each episode told unique stories which could get pretty funny(like the pilot), touching (like "the last starmaker") and creepy (i found "Perfect" and the flan episodes to be very creepy), all this while keeping it all very artsy("Perfect" also is a good example of this).

So yeah, i really like this toon and might draw more pics of it, perhaps Courage himself.
i wonder why did they cancel such a good show.
